The Unseen Hand: Stories for My Grandchildren is a kaleidoscopic memoir that weaves together people, places, and events over the author’s lifetime. After many challenges and disappointments, he goes on to become the National Table Tennis Champion of India, at the time when the country was home to 600 million people. Jay represents India at the World Table Tennis Championships and at other international tournaments. After reaching the pinnacle of sport in India, and with two post graduate degrees under his belt and a huge loan burden, he travels to the United States seeking new opportunities. In America, instead of the limitless prospects that he assumes he will have, Jay faces a country that is in the midst of a double recession and a near depression in oil-rich Texas. His life becomes one struggle after another; one crisis after another.

It is a story that is at times humorous and funny, and sometimes sad, moving, and emotional. The story evokes a sense of nostalgia for the days gone by. It is a story of resilience, hard work, and faith. After almost thirty years in a profession he was forced into and never chose, one that he now calls ‘purpose-driven,’ he attains success as a Financial Advisor to many successful people while establishing his own company.
