At just ten years old, Albert Moroña’s childhood came to an abrupt and violent end when his father was killed in a holdup. Left with a heart consumed by a burning desire for revenge and the crushing weight of extreme poverty in Taguig, Philippines, survival became his only classroom. What began as selling cigarettes at local cockfighting arenas quickly spiraled into street gangs, rebellion, and a severe, years-long drug addiction.

For decades, Albert lived on the run. From the dangerous alleyways of Manila to the exhausting shifts of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Taiwan, he tried to outrun his darkness, but his chains followed him across borders. He survived police raids, near-fatal stabbings, encounters with bows and arrows, and terrifying drug overdoses. From the outside, he seemed "hard to kill," but on the inside, he was entirely empty.

Then, at thirty-four years old, a single, piercing question stopped him in his tracks: “If you die now, where are you going?”
