From this man's youth group would come 12 priests, 3 bishops, and one pope! Meet the man who molded the spirituality of a young pope. His simple gifts, magnified through the lives he impacted, would change the world forever.

The FIRST full-length biography of Venerable Jan Tyranowski in English! Special thanks to the Salesians of Don Bosco for granting us permission to translate this for new audiences that "This pearl of the Gospel cannot be covered by the dust of oblivion."

Letter from Pope St. John Paul II to the Author, Fr. Michael Szafarski, Society of Don Bosco (SDB):

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your letter with wishes for the Golden Jubilee of my Priesthood, which began at the Parish of St. Stanislaus Kostka in Krakow’s D?bniki district. The attached memories of the late Jan Tyranowski emphasize his role in the lives of many young people, including myself, who were fortunate enough to be among his pupils, under his „spiritual guidance.” He certainly also played a great role in my life, on my path to the priesthood, showing by his example the beauty of the inner life associated with the gift of a vocation to serve Christ. With great reverence and gratitude, I often recalled this Man of Providence in the formation of my vocation.

I am glad that over the years the memory of him has not faded, but interest in his figure has grown.

I would like to thank Father for [this] biography of the late Jan Tyranowski ... It will enrich the materials collected about the life of this man, a great apostle of the Living Rosary among young people, especially in view of the approaching 50th anniversary of his death, which falls next year (1997).

With gratitude for your prayers for my intentions, I send my warmest greetings to you and your Salesian colleagues in the Krakow Province, together with my Apostolic Blessing.
